Telescope - I built my own 17½ inch telescope some years ago.  It won First Place in the Dobsonian category at the 1994 Table Mountain Star Party and an Honorable Mention award at the 1993 Riverside Telescope Maker's Conference for "Skillful Integration of Innovative Ideas."

Computers  If you go by my education (BS Computer Science from Oregon State University) this should probably be listed first. I was a Software Development Engineer at Microsoft for 11 years .  Below are the major products I worked on:
bullet

OS/2 - versions 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 2.0:  Yes, Microsoft developed the early versions of OS/2 in cooperation with IBM before Windows 3.0 became so successful.  I wrote test programs for interprocess communication, memory management, file systems, and command processors and wrote a bunch of test tools.

bullet

Windows NT - version 3.1: I tested the network redirector and the event logger, and developed remote transports for the debugger.

bullet

Microsoft At Work Fax: My product was the fax software in Windows 95.  I was the developer of the MAPI transport.

bullet

Outlook Express - AKA: Internet Mail and News - I was development lead for the Address Book and later owned development of the S/MIME (encryption and digital signature) portion of the product.  This is the email program which shipped with Internet Explorer and Windows 98.
