2001 Noble Witt Award
presented to
Harvey Gordon
(1935 - 2010)

Harvey Gordon was selected as the 2001 Noble Witt Award recipient in appreciation of his long standing support of our FM Chapter and his work in the field of mineralogy.  For many years Harvey has attended our symposiums as a floor dealer with a wide variety of quality specimens and most of the time it has been a labor of love without much remuneration.  In addition, Harvey has provided program material with tales and pictures of his many mining ventures, especially the ZAPOT (topaz spelled backwards) Mine in Nevada.  Harvey has spent a lifetime seeking out new mineral locations and bringing fine specimens to the marketplace for the enjoyment of our members and all mineral collectors.  Friends of Mineralogy and the entire earth science community have greatly benefited from his dedication to the profession and the hobby.

Each recipient receives a plaque of recognition. In addition, their name and the date is placed on a permanent plaque that hangs in the Northwest Minerals Gallery at the Rice Northwest Museum of Rocks and Minerals.

More information about the Noble Witt award is posted on another web page.
